I had to leave my hometown to truly understand the value of the place I was born in.I grew up in Bhavani Kumarapalayam, where the rhythmic sound of looms is not extraordinary it is simply everyday life.Over the past decade, I returned to those looms. I stayed, learned, worked, and slowly understood the realities of this craft alongside the weavers of my hometown.
Today, I am proud to be the youngest weaver representing the Bhavani Jamakkalam community.Because I come from the same land, the weavers were never distant artisans to me. They are my people my extended family. Their quiet trust has gradually become a responsibility I now carry forward.House of Jamakkalam was born from that responsibility an effort to create space for this craft to move confidently into the future while staying rooted in the hands and stories that built it.
To me, Jamakkalam is not simply a textile. It is a way of life one that must be carried forward to the next generation, just as it was passed down to me, along with the people who have sustained it for generations.
